Job summary

The Contracts and Specialist Services Manager is a pivotal leadership role within Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, responsible for overseeing the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of specialist engineering and facilities services across the estate; services provided through subcontracted providers

The postholder will act as the principal liaison between the Estates and Facilities team, Procurement, and contracted service providers, ensuring that all services are delivered in accordance with statutory requirements, contracted requirements, NHS HTM standards, and Trust policies. This role demands a strong technical and commercial background, with responsibility for managing a diverse portfolio of specialist contracts, ensuring robust contract performance, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.

Main duties of the job

Lead the delivery of specialist estates and facilities services provided by subcontracted service providers, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, NHS HTM standards, and Trust policies.

Act as the primary liaison between the Estates and Facilities team, Procurement, and contracted service providers to ensure effective contract mobilisation, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.

Develop and implement robust contract management strategies, including service level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and continuous improvement plans.

Oversee the administration and performance of the Trust's stores and supply chain functions, ensuring timely availability of materials and equipment to support operational delivery.

  • Substantial experience in senior hard FM engineering roles within healthcare, public sector, or complex estates.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory and legal requirements impacting NHS estates and facilities.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, multi-site NHS environment. Previous experience within an NHS Trust or similar large public sector organisation.
  • Significant experience managing compliance audits, including regulatory and contractual obligations.

Desirable

  • Experience with Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) Systems and advanced CAFM functionality.

Experience

  • Knowledge and experience of CAFM software e.g Maximo, MRI or IDOX
  • Demonstrable staff management experience, including contractor oversight.
