Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team of Nurses and Midwives working within a 16 bedded private maternity unit to deliver gold standard care to women with a variety of obstetric risk factors.

If you are someone who wishes to provide high quality, patient focused nursing care, within a supportive multi-disciplinary team, then this is the job for you.

We are looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic nurse, to provide high quality recovery care to our obstetric patients post elective caesarean surgery and during cervical suture insertion. There will also be the expectation to care for general antenatal and postnatal patients alongside the Midwifery team, providing infant feeding support and supporting all the family to have the best experience possible.

Main duties of the job

  • Make assessments of care needs, formulate, implement and evaluate a programme of care using the nursing model for the area.
  • Be designated to take charge of in the absence of the person with continuing responsibility or their deputy and support the recovery team.
  • Maintain standards of high quality, safe care whilst considering the ultimate positive patient experience.
  • Consider the customer service aspects of patient care for those on the private maternity journey.

Assist in the care and recovery of patients attending for cervical sutures, caesarean sections andiron/blood transfusions. Facilitate an effective pre-admission service (including pre-op medication discussions,venepunctures and pre-admission swab testing: MRSA/Covid). Support the smooth-running of a busy outpatient consultant-led antenatal clinic. Regular patient observations and medication administration and escalation to shift coordinatorand/or Matron as appropriate. The maintenance of an acceptable environment for women, their families and visitors and staff,reporting and taking appropriate action on hazard and faulty equipment as per hospital policy.   • Demonstrable experience as a Registered Nurse within an acute setting e.g. Surgery/Recovery.

Desirable

  • Part 8 or 15 NMC Register
  • Recovery related course (e.g.ENB 182/100/A75) or relevant experience
  • Teaching and Assessing Course or equivalent

Essential

  • Demonstrable surgical/acute nursing skills for preop, post-op and acutely unwell patients.
