We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiasticSpecialist Grade Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecologywith a special interest inRapid Access and General Gynaecologyto join our dynamic Women's Health team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
This exciting role offers a broad scope of clinical responsibilities, including leading2WW Rapid Access Gynaecology Clinics, supportingGeneral Gynaecology Clinics, and contributing toElective Caesarean SectionandGynaecology Operating Lists. You'll also provide expert care in ourMaternity TriageandDay Assessment Unit, supporting high-risk women with compassion and clinical excellence.
As part of thesenior registrar rota, you'll participate in the on-call schedule with afixed night every alternate week, ensuring continuity of care and leadership across services.
This is a 12-month fixed-term post with potential to transition into a permanent contract. We are committed to supporting your career development, including progression into a Consultant role, through structured training, mentorship, and hands-on experience.
Main duties of the job
Rapid Access and General Gynaecology Clinics
- Deliver care inGeneral Gynaecologyand2WW Rapid Access Clinicsunder the indirect supervision of a named consultant.
- Manage your own patient list, including timely clinic documentation, result follow-up, and communication with GPs.
Maternity Triage and Day Assessment Unit
- Provide senior-level expertise in the management of high-risk women using theBSOTS frameworkfor timely and standardised assessments.
- Support clinical decision-making and care delivery in theMaternity Day Assessment Unit.
Elective Caesarean Sections and Gynaecology Theatres
- Assist inelective caesarean sections, covering pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.
- Participate ingynaecology theatre lists under consultant supervision,
- Inpatient follow-up as required.
Collaboration and Multidisciplinary Teamwork
- Work closely with obstetricians, anaesthetists, midwives, and the wider healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Contribute tomultidisciplinary case reviews, offering clinical insight and collaborative decision-making.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, ensuring clarity and compassion in all interactions.
Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement
- Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge inobstetrics and gynaecology, with a focus on 2WW and high-risk obstetric care.
- Engage inclinical audits, and support the development of protocols and guidelines to enhance service delivery.
