Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join the Reproductive Medicine team within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at the West Middlesex University Hospital Site

We wish to appoint a suitably trained and experienced doctor, ideally with some NHS experience, as a Senior Clinical Fellow with a special interest in Reproductive Medicine. The post will provide specialised training towards the independent management of subfertility patients in a secondary setting and will include training in follicle tracking, ovulation induction and secondary level assisted reproductive techniques such as super-ovulation and IUI. We also have a joint IVF satellite service with The Fertility Centre at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and the post will involve training in the planning, monitoring and cycle management of these patients. The IUI, oocyte collection and embryo transfer procedures are undertaken at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and it will be important to work closely with the team there. There may be opportunities to do some procedures in The Fertility Centre but no formal training in oocyte collection etc will be offered. During the post, the Fellow will have the opportunity to undertake regular audits within the department and will be registered with the HFEA and aid in submitting the annual S/O and IUI audits.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic trainee to join our friendly team providing subfertility services to our local population. The successful applicant will be trained up over the first few weeks in follicle tracking, ovulation induction (O/I) and superovulation and intra uterine insemination (S/O and IUI) with a view to independent practice following this.

The post holder will also be supported in performing acute emergency gynaecology procedures such as complex SMM under ultrasound guidance, laparoscopic salpingectomy/salgingotomy for tubal ectopic pregnancies and other acute gynaecology procedures. Training will provided in hysteroscopy and Gynaecological Endocrinology as well as secondary level Subfertility management. The IUI and oocyte collection and embryo transfer procedures are undertaken at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and it will be important to work closely with the ACU team there. There may be opportunities to do some procedures in the ACU but no formal training in Oocyte Collection etc will be offered.

The Fellow will have the opportunity to undertake regular audits within the department and will aid in submitting the annual S/O and IUI audits.The post-holder will be involved with research within the subfertility, early pregnancy and gynaecology departments and if interested, there will be the opportunity to submit for ethics approval to conduct their own original research in future years if the post is extended.
