**An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Early Pregnancy & Emergency Gynaecology Clinical Nurse Specialist (Nurse/Midwife sonographer) at Band 7**

The Early Pregnancy unit is a bespoke Unit specifically designed to provide an expanded service to see women with early pregnancy and acute gynaecology complications. This Unit has range of rooms, each designed for scanning and clinical investigation. Minor out-patient procedures are also performed for manual vacuum aspiration, Word catheter insertion, intrauterine contraceptive device insertion and retrieval.

The service ethos is to provide time-critical rapid assessment of our women within a one-stop clinical model in close liaison with our A&E and GP colleagues. The Unit delivers specialist, evidence-based, holistic care to women with early pregnancy and gynaecology complications in an environment that supports patient choice and dignity. The multi-professional team consists of consultant gynaecologists, clinical nurse specialists, a clinical research fellow and specialist sonographers.

The successful candidate must have and experience of gynaecology and early pregnancy management and treatment. They must have a qualification in early pregnancy and gynaecology scanning. The post requires excellent prioritising and verbal and non-verbal and counselling skills.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Nurse/Midwife Specialist includes;

  • Receiving referrals.
  • Providing skilled assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of specialist care within defined guidelines and protocols.
  • Referring to other disciplines and agencies.
  • Ordering and interpreting relevant tests and investigations.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to nurses/midwives & other disciplines.
  • Providing specialist training and education to own and other professions.
  • Setting and monitoring standards of care and treatment.
