This is a one year post but has the potential to be extended for a second year. Designed to offer those planning a career in Uro-orology the opportunity to extend their clinical experience in complex urological surgery. It provides a broad exposure to both minimally invasive and open surgical procedures.Fellows will be provided with a volume of surgical training in both that will allow the graduating fellow to perform both open and minimally invasive surgery with competence. The post accredited by Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh allow the development of skills beyond that envisaged in the current SAC approved curriculum.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of the unit's clinical work including outpatient clinics, diagnostic procedures, multi-disciplinary team meetings, day case and inpatient operating as well as emergency care and ward rounds. The clinical activities will be under the supervision of consultant urologists.
The successful candidate will contribute to the Urology middle grade on call rota which is based at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. The rota is currently run at 1:12 which is split into weekdays daytime cover Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm, individual nights overnight cover Monday to Friday 5pm - 8am and weekend cover Saturday or Sunday 8am - 8am
