Job summary
A new and exciting position has become available to work in the Department of Medicine for Older Peoples Therapy Service (DMOPS) at Aintree Hospital and in the Aintree Hospital to Home Service as part of an internal static rotation.
This Band 6 post would provide you with opportunity to work both on the Older people's inpatient wards, in a Falls outpatient setting and expanding your skills into the community by working in the Hospital to Home Service. The internal static position would alternate every 9 months (in line with band 6 OT rotations) from DMOPS inpatients (including falls clinic) and Hospital to Home community working.
This unique opportunity would allow you to develop your skills in an inpatient , outpatient and community setting.
The DMOPS Therapy Team cover 3 inpatient wards including a ward that specialises in Parkinsons Disease.
Main duties of the job
To support the DMOPS Service by providing key OT assessment and treatment plans for patients on the DMOPS wards.
To manage a complex caseload on acute DMOPS wards.
To support the Falls Outpatient service by providing vital OT assessments and intervention in people's own environment.
To complete Discharge to Assess visits, complex follow up visits and Environmental visits in patients own environments to support discharge from the acute hospital.
To manage desiganted case load with complex needs using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan implement and evaluate interventions.
Maintain records which fulfil legal requirements
To regularly superise OT students
To provide leadership for junior staff , through supervision and performance reviews.
To contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust OT service.

As a senior member of the team you will be given repsonsibility to support the leadership of the DMOPS therapy team, supervise junior staff and help devise and teach inservice trainings. You will also have opportunity to work alongside Physiotherapists in an Outpatient Falls Clinic completing visits in the community to help reduce further falls occuring.
The team are passionate about providing the highest quality of care they can to the older population, holding high importance in upskilling staff to gain the knowledge they need, ensuring that staff are trained in areas such as Dementia, Parkinsons, Falls amongst others.
Therapy Staff work closely with Geriatricians and the rest of the MDT ensuring that the best care for the older population in an acute environment is provided.
The Aintree Hospital to Home team are a based in Aintree hospital but provide OT assessment and intervention for patients in their own environments once discharged from the Aintree inpatient bed base. The team are made up of Physiotherapists , Occupational Therapists and Therapy Support staff. It is preferable that you can drive in order to support patients from Hospital to Home as many visits are completed via a discharge to assess pathway with use of a trust vehicle. As one of the senior members of the team you would lead on discharge to assess visits, complex follow up visits and environmental visits to support patients to function well in their own environments. You would also supervise junior staff and support OT students.
