An exciting opportunity has arisen for to join the Nurse Clinician team at Aintree University Hospital. We are seeking to appoint a Senior Nurse who will provide professional, advanced clinical support and advice to the junior doctors and nursing staff "out of hours".
Applicants must be a registered Nurse with significant experience of working within an acute hospital setting. You should have a broad range of advanced clinical skills with specific experience in patient assessment and treatments. Qualifications in Clinical Examination and Diagnostics at Degree or Masters level are essential.
You must feel confident in your ability to respond to and deal with a patient emergency situation as the post holder will become part of the Medical Emergency Response Team.
Good communication and leadership skills are fundamental as you will be expected to offer support and advice to nursing staff and junior doctors. You will also coordinate the "out of hours" hand over meetings with Medical and Surgical doctors.
Accurate clinical judgement and decision-making skills are essential as the post holder will act as a first point of contact for ward staff who require advice/medical intervention from a doctor out of hours.

Main duties of the job
Provide leadership, advanced clinical support and advice to the Junior Doctors, nursing staff and multidisciplinary team members working within AUH
First point of contact for all calls/bleeps made to the junior doctors out of hours
Chair and coordinate the out of hours Medical and Surgical doctors' handover meetings, ensuring they have a beneficial impact on the wellbeing and safety of patients within AUH
Take responsibility for own clinical workload. Prioritise work according to clinical need, assessing and treating patients according to their individual requirements
Provide specialist clinical skills based on current best practice and evidence based guidelines
Responding nurse for the MET team and an advanced life support provider out of hours.
Establish and maintain effective communications between Medical/Surgical Doctors, the MET and ward/departments
Act as an out of hours helpline for patients on discharge following day surgery
Ensure continuous improvement in clinical care standards and that patients are treated with dignity and respect
Ensure the delivery of a safe and clean patient care environment within the Clinical Areas attended as part of role
