Job summary

An exciting opportunity is available within the Immunology Department in LCL for a Band 4 Associate Practitioner to come join our fast paced and highly motivated team.

We are looking to recruit a motivated Associate Practitioner with good communication skills, to work as part of the Immunology Team. The main duties processing of samples for Immunology, and various laboratory duties supporting the Biomedical Scientists.

Previous laboratory and/or Specimen Reception experience would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

The department is fully UKAS accredited and is also accredited by the HCPC/IBMS as a training laboratory. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join a very busy department dedicated to providing the highest quality, patient centred service.

To act as a Laboratory Support Technician, performing a comprehensive range ofroutine and specialist Biochemistry and Haematology analyses, undersupervision from experienced Biomedical Scientists.2. On rotation, provide assistance to Biomedical Scientists in Non Automated andCore/Automated laboratories.3. Undertake specialist manual and semi-automated procedures, under supervisionfrom experienced Biomedical Scientists.4. To maintain, under the supervision of qualified Biomedical Scientists, highlycomplex analytical equipment in optimum operational condition, taking necessaryremedial action during technical failure. Respond to error messages, referring tosupervisory staff where necessary, and liaising with engineers called to failingequipment.5. To enter patient demographic information, collate results and enter data into thelaboratory IT systems.6. To utilise necessary interpersonal skills to ensure effective liaison with serviceusers to provide the best care for the patient.
