Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Theatre Support Worker to work within our busy operating theatre department providing care for patients who are under the care of most surgical specialities with this this post specifically for Ophthalmology.

Main duties of the job

o Daily cleaning of the theatre area, Scrub Room and Exit Rooms including all furniture, fittings and specialised equipment.o Monitor and maintain stock levels of materials and equipment in each theatre area.o Prepare packs, set up trolleys, setup theatres for scrub team. Ordering of CSSD, TSSU, stores and instruments for the lists thefollowing day.

  • Collecting patients from Theatre Admissions Unit.
  • Taking patients back to Theatre Admissions Units Post-operatively.
  • Monitoring patients vitals/observations during surgical procedures.

o Act as circulating assistant during operative procedures. Deal appropriately with specimens and measurement of urine and bloodloss.o Set up theatre for the following day's list, ensuring instruments, trays etc are available, recording shortages to ensure smoothrunning of list.o Receive and identify patients for clinical/operative procedures and support. them whilst in the Anaesthetic Room prior to surgery.o Ensure all relevant information is recorded on the computerised patient information sheet.o Complete any documentation necessary for nursing records.o Promote and maintain safety and security of the environment by adhering to theatre protocols and policies at all times. Ensurepatients dignity and religious/cultural beliefs are respected at all times. Act as patients advocate whilst in the theatre department.
