Job summary
This post is part of a pro-active team providing the infection prevention and control service to a large major teaching hospital.. The team works inpartnership with all members of the Infection Control Group and Trust clinical and Management teams to ensure the Trust service complies with the Health Act, UKHSA and relevant Department of Health guidance tosafeguard patient's staff and visitors from avoidable healthcare associated infections.
Main duties of the job
Main duties will include:
o To provide direction, leadership and guidance for clinical teams in thearea of infection prevention and control.o To provide a resource for clinical teams and the clinical throughputteam through the management of outbreaks of infection.
o To support and educate a network of infection control link nurses.
o To provide specialist advice to the general public on infectionprevention and control and infectious diseases often defusing tensionsin distressing situations.o To advise contracting departments, participating in the preparation ofdocuments relating to service specifications and quality standards.
o To be responsible for the development, implementation and review ofpolicies and guidelines including compilation of procedures relating toinfection control.
o To develop and deliver objective based educational programmesincluding induction and mandatory training update sessions for all staff.
o To pursue a programme of continuous education in line with the needsof the Trust and current legislation from the Nursing and MidwiferyCouncil and other National Boards.
