Job summary

Due to internal promotion an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Alcohol Specialist Nurse is available. The alcohol specialist nurse team based with Liverpool University Hospital NHS Trust is an integral part of the department of gastroenterology as part of Liverpool Community Alcohol Service (LCAS).

You will be employed by Liverpool University Foundation Trust and based both in the acute and community settings.

Here at Liverpool University Foundation Trust we provide nurse-led out-patient services to the local population, and provide support and liaison to our community partners, and referral to specialist services.

This is a post that would suit a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years experience of working in an acute hospital.

As much of the role involves assessment and treatment of alcohol-related problems with pharmacotherapy it is essential to be (or working toward) a non medical prescriber.

Working with this complex patient group will require good clinical skills and a positive and caring attitude.

Evidence of working autonomously is essential. The role will involve treating patients with alcohol dependence, liver disease, and cognitive impairment in nurse-led clinics across primary and secondary care.

There will also be the opportunity to undertake specialist clinical procedures such as fibroscanning.
