Exciting opportunity to join our endoscopy team at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. Newly created position.

Band 6 HPB endoscopy interventional & ERCP Nurse coordinator

You must be a dynamic flexible individual with advanced IT, administrative and organizational skills should ideally have a minimum of 2 years experience in endoscopy is essential

The post holder will be expected to provide clinical expertise and knowledge, demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, treatment and management of the client group.

S/he will be proficient and competent in all HPB Endoscopic interventions including ERCP, EUS/FNA, Axios stent insertion and Spyglass procedures. You will supervise members of the nursing team ensuring competency-based assessments are completed for all staff allocated to assist with HPB procedures training

The post holder will co-ordinate and organise the inpatient and outpatient referrals for ERCP providing nursing support, information and advice to patients and their families, relatives and carers. The post holder will facilitate communication and act as liaison between the referrer, clinicians, ward staff and endoscopy unit staff.

The post holder would also be in charge of leading discussions during the HPB Endotherapy MDT and also participate in the benign pancreatic MDT.

The post will also work in conjuction with the the inpatient coordinatior and cross cover both services when required.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will ensure patients and their carers fully understand the procedure for which they have been referred.

The post holder will review the referrals and assess the patients to determine suitability and priority against agreed protocols and criteria, booking the patients appropriately and in a timely manner and maintaining the Stent Register

To facilitate the safe efficient and optimal use of ERCP sessions. The post holder is expected to provide nurse led consent for inpatients and outpatients where appropriate.

The post holder will record activity, outcomes, take part in clinical audit, evidence- based practice and prepare reports in order to evaluate the role and service.

The post holder will need to ensure they maintain own clinical skills

The post holder to work in conjuction with the inpatient coordinator

to ensure both services are covered and running efficiently
