Job Summary

We are looking for a senior occupational therapist for a newly created post supporting the beneficiaries of the infected blood inquiry. This is a rare opportunity to be part of the new Infected Blood Psychology Service supporting those who were infected or affected by contaminated blood products. The care navigators will be the first point of contact for beneficiaries accessing this service and will play a vital role in ensuring a positive experience. The post holder will be responsible for completing biopsychosocial assessments, interventions, creating care plans, assessing risk and signposting to other services and agencies as appropriate. The role will also include some leadership of outreach programmes, peer support and service development. The post holder will work closely with the IBPS psychologist's and with the national network of care navigators. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the beneficiaries of the inquiry.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties

This role is a joint post between Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust and Manchester University Foundation Trust hosted within the Haemophilia centre at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. The role will largely be remote working, with some travel to both sites as needed. An office base is available at Liverpool Royal if desired. The key duties will be as follows:

o To provide expert input for beneficiaries of the Northwest of England Infected Blood Psychological Service (IBPS), which provides psychosocial care for those infected and affected by the contaminated blood products.

o The service is hosted between the Royal Liverpool and Manchester Foundation Trusts Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centres and collaborates closely with their Multidisciplinary Teams (MDT), while maintaining its distinct identity at both sites.

o To be responsible for provision of specialist assessment and treatment of patients by ensuring appropriate pathways of care

o To co-ordinate and work collaboratively with other staff members and statutory and voluntary agencies external to the Trust, to provide a quality service that meets the needs of patients and their families.
