Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced nurse to join our Breast (and Endocrine Surgery) Clinical Nurse Specialist Team as a Breast Reconstruction Clinical Nurse Specialist.

The successful candidate will join a very busy, well established and motivated team who provide an excellent service to patients who are undergoing breast reconstruction surgery following previous breast cancer surgery, as part of risk reducing pathway and benign surgery.

This post is permanent, 37.5hrs per week.

The successful candidate will have previous post registration clinical experience in the care of patients with Breast cancer. Applicants should possess excellent IT, literacy, communication and organisational skills and should be prepared to work flexibly.

Main duties of the job

As part of the Breast Specialist Nursing Team you will be supported by a dedicated team.

You will provide expert advice to patients and support them through their decision making, treatment and beyond. This will include managing a caseload and delivering the follow services across the Royal and Aintree Breast Units:

  • Nurse Led Breast Prosthesis Clinic
  • Nurse Led Nipple Tattoo Clinic
  • Attending Joint Genetics Clinic
  • Nurse led follow up clinic
  • Complex wound management and review
  • Management of post op complications such as seromas

You will develop skills to personalise care through undertaking Holistic Needs Assessments. You will be encouraging an approach of patient supported self-management.

You will work as part of a well-established team but will also have the ability to work autonomously.
