Job summary

To play a pivotal role in the organisation of booking the pre-operative assessment clinics across sites, supporting the pre-operative assessment nurses to provide a seamless service to elective patients prior to their admission for surgery.To liaise will Consultants and Secretaries regarding listing and admitting patients for surgery implementing changes through modernisation of the In-Patient Booking Department and the rest of the hospital

Main duties of the job

Add patients to the Waiting List with information given via e-mail and ensuring that patient's relevant information is inputted onto the hospital system, ensuring accuracy at all times, also updating new information when it is received.Send for all patients to come into relevant hospital site using the Inpatient Scheduler system booking directly into operating lists. This information comes via the Consultant, his secretary or e-mail. This requires prioritising admission dates to meet deadlines. This may mean liaising with bed bureau, wards, admissions and the patient.Select patients from specific Consultant clinician's waiting lists for admission for surgery following strict written protocols.Admit, discharge and record attendances of patients for specific Consultants.5. Arrange the booking of Ambulances for patient attending clinic6. Arrange Interpreters and Signers for patients if they are required acknowledging cultural and personal beliefs.Dec 2021Remove patients from the list when requested and inform patient, Consultant and GP as appropriate.Informing GP's of patients failure to attend pre op appointment and admission dates.Prioritise all workloads whist unsupervised in the office.Retrieve case notes as and when required and order x-rays for relevant clinics.Filing as required.
