Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Governance role at Aintree Hospital.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Governance, the post holder will have a good understanding & knowledge of governance in a Health Care setting and will have responsibility for supporting all aspects of governance across their area of responsibility. This will include advice, management and support of risk, incident and complaints management processes and clinical effectiveness across the Aintree site.

The post holder will have good analytical skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. They will be a natural leader with extensive experience in transforming and leading high performing governance teams. Candidates should have skills and experience of key governance and assurance principles. This role also requires individuals with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage their own workload without supervision within a busy environment.

Main duties of the job

Quality Governance and Safetyo Lead and manage the Trust's divisional governance teams and have overall responsibility for quality assurance, risk management and servicedevelopment in relation to the Trust's divisional governance agenda across divisions.o Lead the divisional governance team in planning and implementing a range of effective service developments and working in close collaboration with managers and clinicians to improve clinical practice.o Responsible for the formulation of plans for governance, quality improvement, clinical audit, and complaints across the divisions.o Responsible for ensuring maintenance and monitoring of clinical standards, including the development and implementation of evidence-based practice, clinical effectiveness, clinical standards, and national performance (clinical) indicators.o Provide highly specialist advice, support and guidance from ward to board in relation to all aspects of governance

Leadership and Management of Staffo Deliver effective transformational leadership.o Ensure staff within areas of responsibility are led, managed and supported.o Responsible for dealing with any disciplinary and capability concernso Provide coaching and mentoring support to the wider Governance Team to support their personal and professional developmento Engagement of staff in the promotion of staff wellbeing.o Ensure recruitment and retention of staff with the required competencies tomeet the service requirements
