Job summary

The post is a unique and exciting opportunity and is aimed at prospective candidates who have completed the Foundation programme and/or those who are preparing to apply for specialist training programmes.

The aim is to provide a broad-based orthopaedic training at a level higher than Foundation with special focus on areas of interest that the appointee would wish to develop in their focus on areas of interest that the appointee would wish to develop in their professional skills and profile to prepare themselves for and competitive to apply for speciality programmes.

Main duties of the job

The post will be based predominantly at the Aintree University site, our trauma site and Broadgreen Hospital our state of the art elective centre. You will be responsible for routine and emergency admissions of orthopaedic patients participating in a partial shift rota for orthopaedics. Day to day work will be varied including ward work, trauma and major trauma on call, outpatient clinics and theatre sessions.

We encourage trainees to operate under supportive supervision to develop their surgical skills. A number of the consultants are deeply involved in educational roles all the way from undergraduate level to registrar level and pride themselves on training the next generation of surgeons.
