Job summary
Manage and develop the Trust's Infection Prevention and Control plans in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Infection Prevention (DIPC).Working closely with the Deputy DIPC and the Infection Control Doctor, the post holder will provide strategic leadership for delivery of the IPC agenda, and management of infection prevention.To ensure the prevention, surveillance and control of healthcare related infection in the Trust, and the attainment of key Trust performance targets relating to Infection Prevention and Control. Ensuring that systems and processes are in place to comply with relevant legislation and governance requirements, linking with professional bodies, and others such as commissioners about service developments, contracts and clinical care pathways whilst utilising the expertise and skills of the wider team.As the Lead Nurse for Infection Prevention and Control the post holder will be expected to deputise for the Deputy DIPC/ Director of Infection Prevention & Control, and will have freedom to act in all aspects of hospital Infection Prevention & Control.
This post is primarily based on the Aintree site, however cross site support may be required.
Main duties of the job
Responsible (with the Deputy DIPC) for the development of evidence based infection control policies, their implementation and monitoring across the whole Trust ensuring best practice in infection controlResponsible for the audit and surveillance of Healthcare Associated infections (HCAI's) and related issues.Responsible for the maintenance of and development of links with internal and external stakeholders to promote reduction of HCAI's.Responsible (with Deputy DIPC) for setting and monitoring standards of infection prevention and control.Utilise advanced clinical reasoning skills and evidence based knowledge in the management of patients with highly complex presentations.Responsible for providing expert advice and guidance at all relevant stages of the development and planning process for new builds, remodels, refurbishments and redesigns.Provide a range of complex reports and presentations to committees of the Trust and outside Agencies ensuring good communication.
Work with the senior leadership teams in the Divisions, support the development of managers and team leaders, and the development of the nursing profession to ensure that patient care and services are caring and compassionate, and led by competent, capable, high performing teams.Instigate and request outbreak, and individual patient, clinical investigations and treatment regimes in line with protocols and guideline and to advise consultants on extraordinary IPC measures where appropriate.
