Job summary
The post holder will be mentored by the Senior Nurse Practitioners.There will be an expectation to develop and achieve the skills and competencies for the role of Nurse Practitioner under the direct mentorship of the Senior Nurse Practitioners.
To provide professional and advanced clinical nursing support and advice to the junior doctors, nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team within LUHFT
To provide senior nursing support and advice to all clinical areas within the Trust, and to undertake advanced patient assessment and clinical interventions, which includes Nurse Prescribing.
To participate in and co-ordinate the Trust's Emergency Response Teams Cardiac Arrests and other clinical emergencies.
The post holder will not be expected to perform operational or Duty management responsibilities.
Main duties of the job
The Post holder will be an experienced practitioner, demonstrating a high level of practice, knowledge and autonomy, participating in direct patient care.
Using a high level of interpersonal skills and knowledge, filter all calls to medical staff. Refer clinical problems as required or as per guidelines. Triage and prioritise all calls to junior doctors using a high level of interpretation and judgement.
Provide clinical advice and support to PRHO/SHO on request.To provide senior clinical advice to all areas within the Trust.
Key Member of the "H@N" Team to ensure optimum patient care.
Act as a clinical expert, using highly developed specialist knowledge in the provision of support and advice to ward & junior medical staff.
To communicate effectively with senior medical staff i.e. (Anaesthetist, Registrar, ITU SPR, Consultant) ensuring optimum patient care is maintained in all clinical areas by having the ability to provide, receive and interpret highly complex and sensitive
