Job summary
Knowsley Community Diabetes Service provides education and clinical support to patients with diabetes in the Knowsley area. We are seeking a Band 6 Specialist Diabetes Dietitian to provide dietary education and counselling to patients under the KCDS service based at Manor Farm Huyton and offering a Dietetic service across a variety of outpatient clinic settings in Kirkby, Whiston and Halewood. Access to a car is preferable due to the requirement to travel across sites.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting post where you would be involved in MDT working in a forward thinking team of Diabetes Specialist Nurses and Diabetes Consultants and have access to developing your knowledge and skills in a variety of areas such as:
- Dietary education for patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes utilising digital, written and face to face education.
- Input into MDT Diabetes clinics across four sites in Knowsley supported by Diabetes Specialist Nurse and Consultants.
- Delivering education and support to Care Homes across Knowsley.
- Harnessing new technologies and developments in Diabetes practice such as blood glucose data analysis in real time and insulin pumps.
- Involvement in audit, key performance indicators and service development.
Although community based, you have the support of Advanced Diabetes Dietitians and other Dietetic and MDT colleagues across Liverpool Hospitals Foundation Trust sites at Aintree, Royal and Broadgreen sites. You will also be involved with supervision of Student Dietitians and Graduate Dietitians as part of your role so strong leadership and communication skills are essential. You would be supported in your professional development and would be offered opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in other areas of Diabetes. You will work closely with the Dietetic Clinical Lead to identify any quality issues within the service and provide education to staff and colleagues in your Specialist area.
