Job summary

The Deputy Domestic Services Manager will assist the Domestic Services Manager in the development and maintenance of cost effective and efficient domestic services across the Trust.

The post holder will be responsible for assisting in delivering best practice and value for money in the Domestic Services Department for the Trust.

The post holder will ensure the correct management and delivery of a range of In House and contracted services and be responsible for the operation of a Quality Assurance process which ensures that the specification is met within the resources available, and to standards that are defined.

The post holder will be responsible for providing assurance that all systems and processes in relation to operations and Health & Safety are adhered to The post holder will assist the Domestic Services manager in ensuring domestic services conform to nationally recognised standards of cleanliness in hospitals and monitoring bodies such as PLACE (Patient Led Assessment of the Care Environment).

The post holder will be able to give specialist advice on methods of cleaning regarding changes in legislation, statutory regulations, working practices and infection control. The post holder will be required to effectively manage, develop and support a team of Assistant Domestic Managers.

Main duties of the job

Ensuring effective management of the domestic services department, ensuring that at all times the department is delivered in accordance with current legislation and Trust Policies.To Ensure that the Domestic Services Department complies with current legislation at all times.To continually review and introduce where necessary effective monitoring measures to ensure that the supply of a Domestic service to service users is controlled at critical points throughout the supply chain.To be responsible for ensuring that all quality monitoring audits are completed to the agreed schedule and up to date evidence of rectification is readily availableTo exercise effective budgetary control i.e. ensure that cost centres within Domestic services are contained within pre-determined targets.To ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation.To ensure compliance with the mandatory and appraisal processes.
