The postholder will shape pharmacy services for elective patients across Liverpool. Based in preoperative and same day elective surgical admission areas on the Royal Liverpool site they will also build the service across our multiple care groups and interfaces to optimise care for patients undergoing planned procedures. The Pharmacy Service operates across the Aintree University, Broadgreen General, Liverpool Dental, Royal Liverpool University, Liverpool Women's and Walton Centre Foundation Trust Hospitals and has strong links with our universities with opportunities for research to inform medicines and pharmacy practice. Working with our multidisciplinary team we aim to standardise care and limit unwarranted variation for the population we serve.

Main duties of the job

Lead across sites and ensure delivery of a high quality, proactive and patient focused clinical pharmacy service to the preoperative and same day elective surgical admission areas.

Provide clinical training and supervision to the multidisciplinary team relevant to preoperative care.

Identify the clinical and economic impact of medicines use, develop and implement clinical guidelines, monitor drug expenditure and support the area to meet their clinical and financial targets.

Assist the Clinical Services Lead and the Divisional Surgical Leads in the development of pharmacy services and medicines management within the Surgical directorate.
