We have an exciting opportunity for a well-motivated, dynamic, and experienced Physiotherapist to join the First Response Therapies Team (FRT).
The post is based at Aintree University Hospital site and will support acute assessment and management of patients within the urgent care setting (Emergency Department, Frailty Assessment Unit and Acute medical assessment areas) to prevent deconditioning, support rapid hospital discharge and prevent unnecessary hospital admissions.
The role requires excellent interpersonal, leadership, organisational and communication skills and a commitment to effective multidisciplinary team working and skill sharing. An ability to demonstrate assertion, lateral thinking, creativity and innovation with assessment and treatment planning and methods of service delivery are essential in this high pressure, fast-paced environment.
Main duties of the job
Provide expert assessment and management of a range of patients within the urgent care and community setting including musculoskeletal injuries, falls, neurology and respiratory care.
Have previous clinical experience within the urgent care setting to confidently manage risk with a range of complex patients to support patient flow within the hospital setting and facilitate early discharge through the 'discharge to assess' model of care.
Support junior therapists to develop knowledge and skills regarding acute assessment, goal setting and discharge planning, ensuring high quality treatments are provided for a range of acute and chronic conditions. This includes in-service training and competency sign off.
Clinically coordinate a busy team including leading daily handover meetings and attendance at Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) boardrounds to review and support inpatient and community caseload management.
Actively participate in FRT and Frailty Assessment Unit (FAU) Safety and Governance Meetings and Band 7 Peer Support Meetings.
Develop excellent relationships with the wider MDT - within LUHFT and urgent care community services.
Work flexibly, to support seven day services and shift patterns over an extended working day.
Develop and utilise non clinical leadership/management skills regarding roster management, recruitment, annual leave planning, weekend and rota management, sickness management, datix handling and complaints management.

- To liaise with the Therapy Manager to plan and implement the provision of high quality Physiotherapy services induction.
Lead a team of Physios, OTs, TAs and APs alongside the existing Band 7 team, providing clinical and pastoral supervision and completing annual appraisals.
Participate in both clinical and non clinical coordination roles for the team on a weekly basis.
Contribute to In-service training programs.
Support FRT Lead Therapist in performance monitoring and management of the team including regular data collection and information gathering to contribute to monthly care group reports.
Ensure the team have adequate quality and safety review and improvement mechanisms in place.
- To monitor and carry out clinical audit within the inpatient team.
- To carry out Health & Safety Inspection and Risk Assessment regularly to comply with Trust policy.
