Job summary

We are a major acute teaching Trust offering a wide range of clinical specialties, including tertiary referrals for HIV and Renal Medicine. Pharmacy services are well developed and deliver high quality Medicines Management.

We have a highly regarded, brand new Aseptic Production Unit (APU) at the Trust. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual with experience in aseptic services. You will work closely with the lead for Education and Training to help steer the team at the production unit.

Your knowledge and skills within the technical area of Aseptics, will be vital to developing the workforce at the manufacturing site. You will help to drive the development of new training programmes, to ensure the delivery of high standard training.

You must be a qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC and have experience of working in Aseptic Services.

Main duties of the job

Supporting the Training & Education Lead in the co-ordination, implementation and delivery of training programmes designed for all bands of aseptic services staff using nationally recognised standard frameworks, to include NVQ level 2 & 3 or GPhC approved training programmes supporting staff ensuring timely completion and achievement.

Support delivery of education and training programmes for Support Staff, including delivery of training for Student Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Technicians and Assistant Technical Officers.

Participation in the delivery of education, training and CPD programmes for staff involved in aseptic preparation and dispensing of medicines. Provide technical support and supervision in supporting staff to achieve completion of training packs.

Working closely with senior team members support service development to enhance delivery of a safe, effective, efficient, and cost-effective service in-line with available resources. Adhering to current legislation and regulatory compliance as per Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) standards and following the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

Support the aseptic services unit by dispensing for inpatients and outpatients including parenteral nutrition, cytotoxic agents, injectable CIVAS products, clinical trials and unlicensed medicines using a pharmacy computer system and automated systems in order to maintain professional competencies.
