Liverpool Health Partners is the Academic Health Science System for the Liverpool City Region. it is a membership-led organisation comprising of 10 academic and NHS partners.
LHP convenes across, and advocates on behalf of, its member organisations and the excellence they represent. We have a mandate from the universities and NHS Trusts which are our members, to work across the health and life sciences sector in the region and, together, deliver health, economic and societal benefit.
This post is being created as part of the ongoing establishment of LHP as an initiative within Liverpool. A key element of our work is to attract talent and ensure effective succession planning. Alongside the recently established Deputy MD responsible for delivery of the Joint Research Office, this role will be central to putting those principles into action and achieving our long-term goals.
The post holder will have delegated responsibility for specific areas of LHP activity. They will operate at a senior level across the partnership and be comfortable in a fast moving and complex system. The post will be very much partner-focussed, ensuring that the work LHP does fits with the aspirations of our members and engages them in the delivery.
Main duties of the job
Provide broad support for the MD in shaping and delivering LHP on behalf of the member organisations.
Provide leadership and example in creating the optimal culture for LHP to deliver its strategic plan effectively.
Help ensure the LHP strategy is delivered through a series of coherent, well-organised and ambitious workstreams, developed and delivered with stakeholders.
Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy to support delivery.
Support the development of a positive narrative about Liverpool.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Provide broad support for the MD in shaping and delivering LHP on behalf of the member organisations, helping to:
- Ensure effective governance and delivery of LHP workstreams outwith the JOR
- Oversee budgets and staff associated with the delivery of LHP workstreams (circa £500k per annum)
- Support performance management of LHP, working with the MD to develop and use key performance indicators
- Produce regular reports to the LHP board and its partner organisations, attending the Board when appropriate

- Develop close working relationships with partner organisations and a wide range of other multi- agency organisations
- Take ownership of discrete areas of activity, identifying and pursuing opportunities that form a portfolio in their own right, with delegated authority from the MD

- Provide high calibre and visible leadership to build and sustain a high-calibre team

- Ensuring that the workstreams and their benefits are understood by and remain relevant to all key stakeholders.
- Helping to grow the LHP Brand and deliver maximum value for the Partners and the Liverpool City Region

- Build highly effective senior relationships across the health and science community to support delivery of LHPs strategy
- Work collaboratively with academic and commercial partners, provider organisations, local and central government to deliver the LHP strategic priorities.

- With the Director of Comms and public Affairs, amplify the activity of member organisations, the LHP workstreams and other assets across the city region to present a positive narrative on health and life sciences
- Mobilise and present, in order to influence perception, opportunities and policy, the insights available from across LHP to regional and national stakeholders such a s politicians, government and funding agencies
- Ensure that member organisations are bought into the process, amplifying messages where possible and augmenting the narrative to focus a pan-regional opportunities and successes
