About us

The alcohol specialist nurse team based in the Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospital NHS Trust (RLUHT) is an integral part of the department of gastroenterology as part of LCAS. You will be employed by University Hospital Aintree NHS Trust but work within RLBUHT. Here at the Royal we provide nurse-led out-patient services to the local population, and provide support and liaison to our community partners, and referral to specialist services.

This is a post that would suit a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years experience of working in acute care. As much of the role involves assessment and treatment of alcohol-related problems with pharmacotherapy you will need to be an independent nurse prescriber. Working with this complex patient group will require good clinical skills and a positive and caring attitude. Evidence of working autonomously is essential.

The post will be under the direct clinical supervision of Nurse Consultant, and managed by the alcohol team leader. The job will involve treating patients with alcohol dependence, liver disease, and cognitive impairment in nurse-led clinics across primary and secondary care. There will also be the opportunity to undertake specialist clinical procedures such as fibroscans. The Consultant Hepatologist Consultant Nurse and Nurse Specialists will support your training and education.

Further information concerning the role can be gained from the Job Description.
