Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated Radiographer with a specialist interest in Interventional Radiology imaging to work within the Radiology department and interventional suites at Liverpool University Hospital based at the Aintree site.
The post holder will provide clinical leadership during the week as well as being part of an on call service, which requires clinical competence in both IR, Vascular Hybrid theatres and Cardiac Cath lab imaging.
The successful post holder will support the ongoing development of the IR service and will be involved in both clinical and management aspects of the IR service including working with other specialist areas.
Main duties of the job
The role requires working as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality imaging using a patient centred approach. There is also a commitment to providing out of hours service as part of this role.
The Interventional dept has 2 IR theatres, 1 Ultrasound/multi-purpose room and a 5 bedded recovery area. The service covers a wide variety of procedures as the dept supports many specialist services based on the Aintree site including Regional Trauma, MFU, Regional Vascular and Regional Stroke unit.
The Vascular Hybrid theatre complex comprises of 3 theatres - 2 Hybrid theatres containing Siemens Artis Phenos and 1 open theatre. This complex covers a multitude of vascular procedures including EVAR, FEVAR, BEVAR, peripheral vascular work and is a leading centre in complex endovascular work.
The Cardiac Cath Lab is a single plane lab that undertakes Permanent Pacemaker implantations and Diagnostic coronary angiograms
Key elements of the role are:
- Personnel management on a daily basis including sickness management, rostering, appraisals and HR related issues.
- Clinical competency in all areas of IR imaging including on call commitment
- To work in collaboration with the Nursing Lead to manage capacity and demand of activity in Interventional Theatres
- Attendance at meetings to represent IR
- Radiation Protection Supervisor role and attendance at relevant meetings regarding this to represent IR
