Job summary

LUHFT and Liverpool Women's Hospital are starting an exciting improvement journey. We have committed to the closer working and strategic alignment of our organisations in order to deliver the best possible care for the citizens of Liverpool. In addition to driving quality improvement at scale and pace, both organisations need to deliver ambitious financial recovery plans. Our first steps in this journey have been to appoint a joint Chief Executive for both organisations and are in the process of appointing a joint Chair. The Chief Transformation Officer is our first joint Board level Director, tasked with leading on the development and delivery of our individual and shared improvement ambitions. The role is critical to both organisations and will include leading:

  • The development of a comprehensive Improvement Plan for LWH, including integrating existing improvement plans, a response for the Trust's most pressing clinical risks and the longer term strategic integration with LUHFT
  • LUHFT's Improvement Plan to maintain the journey out of the national Recovery Support Programme towards being an outstanding tertiary provider and leader within the Liverpool Place and Cheshire and Merseyside provider collaborative (CMAST)
  • Working with Partners at Place and ICB to develop future transformation opportunities

Main duties of the job

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Board of both organisations and play a key leadership role in Liverpool's improvement journey. We are interested in hearing from candidates with Board level experience of leading large-scale transformation in the NHS who will bring drive, experience and passion to the role.

The Chief Transformation Officer will contribute to the corporate management of the Trusts as a Board Director, a member of the Executive Team and the wider Health and Care system working with partners across three PLACEs, the Cheshire & Merseyside Integrated Care Board and the Cheshire & Merseyside Acute & Specialist Trust (CMAST) Provider Collaborative.

This position will be employed by Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with a secondment to Liverpool Women's Hospital. The post holder will split their time 50% with each organisation.
