Job summary
We are looking for an exceptional individual with a passion for health economics, who can lead the medicines value programme enabled by our pharmacy services in Liverpool University Teaching Hospitals, Liverpool Women's Hospital and the Walton Centre Foundation Trust with a medicines expenditure exceeding £130. This new role is part of an exciting collaboration with Cheshire and Mersey Integrated Care Board.
The successful candidate should like working in a dynamic environment and have a strong clinical background to enhance the impact of our team across our services for the benefit of our patients.
They will inspire and give direction to an enthusiastic and committed team of pharmacy staff. They will need a strong understanding of financial flows to able to work closely as a team with the Lead Divisional, Medicines Management, Procurement Pharmacists and finance colleagues to deliver medicines optimisation across our secondary, tertiary and quaternary services.
Opportunities for research and credentialing will be supported.
Applicants should be a pharmacist registered with the GPhC. They should have extensive experience working within a range of specialities and will require excellent IT skills to support data analysis and manipulation. They will be self-motivated, organised and work effectively alone and as part of a team.
This post is full time (37.5 hours) but options for flexible working apply.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will:
- Lead, develop, manage, monitor, report and promote, at a highly specialist level, professional and operational aspects of the medicines value within the Trust and the wider Liverpool Health economy. Medicines value in this context means maximising value for money, cost effective prescribing and medicines management.
- Lead on aspects of policy development in the field of medicines value and will lead the medicines related audit of NICE guidelines.
- Manage, coach and develop other pharmacy staff across the Trust and deliver education to pharmacy, medical, nursing and other staff in medicines value and clinical specialty as required.
- Contribute to the strategic development and monitoring of the pharmacy services delivered at LUHFT where there is a particular emphasis on medicines value.
- Collaborate with partners in Cheshire and Merseyside to maximise medicines value and seek our new opportunities for collaboration.
- Provide a highly specialist clinical pharmacy service to a named clinical specialty.
- Act as a deputy for the Associate Director of Pharmacy - when required.
