Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic experienced cardiology nurse to apply for a Cardiac Nurse Practitioners role at Liverpool University Hospital Trust based on the Royal site.
This is a well-established role currently comprising of a team of band 7 specialist nurses. The team also receive clinical support from the cardiology consultants and registrars.
The post holder will be an experienced, autonomous practitioner, who is an expert in their field. They should demonstrate a high level of practice and knowledge in the area of cardiology, whilst participating in direct patient care.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities of the role will include:
The rapid assessment of acute cardiac patient who present to the trust through the Acute Cardiac Unit, ED, AMU, OPD clinics or whom are already in-patients.
Prescribe / initiate appropriate ACS medications where indicated as per current NICE guidelines.
Assess patients and as appropriate arrange and follow up cardiac OPD investigations for patients in ED who are suitable for early discharge.
Review and follow up new patients in RACPAC, general cardiology clinics and syncope clinics.
Co-ordinate and deliver the elective DC cardioversion service, undertake both exercise and dobutamine stress echo, contrast echo and ETT.
Co-ordinate and deliver pre assessment clinics for DC cardioversion and invasive coronary angiogram and obtain valid and informed consent.
Assist in the provision of training and education for staff working within the trust, in particular cardiology staff.
Provide ECG interpretation for patients in pre-operative clinics when requested and give appropriate telephone / face to face advice re cardiology patients to staff from within the trust and also primary care.
Completion of MINAP audit for all AMI patients within the trust.
