Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a support worker to join the IV Access Team at LUFT. Applications are welcome from motivated and enthusiastic individuals.
The service provides vascular access device (VAD) insertion and VAD associated complication management to inpatients and outpatients, at Aintree Hospital, The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen Hospital sites. This post will primarily be based at Aintree, but cross site cover will be required.
Team priorities include the provision of optimum patient experience and outcomes. Daily activity is extremely busy due to clinical demand, therefore, effective team-work is a central part of the role.
Main duties of the job
The role involves:
- Supporting patients and assisting IV Access Specialist Nurses during VAD insertion
- Preparation of equipment prior to VAD insertion, in addition to care and maintenance interventions
- Stock control and management
- Contribute to surveillance and audit
- Administrative activities, incorporating IT skills
- General Health Care Assistant duties
- Communicating effectively (verbal and written)
