Aintree Theatres are going through exciting transformational changes to deliver the future of Healthcare Services across Liverpool and we are seeking dynamic leaders who are able to lead our Team of Perioperative Practitioners. Within your specialty you will be required to support and deliver high class, safe, quality patient care.
You will need to demonstrate your clinical expertise, excellent communication skills and strong leadership qualities, you will support the Clinical Manager for theatres in ensuring high standards are maintained, and be a visible credible role model within the Operating Theatre.
Supporting the Clinical Manager in developing and maintaining a positive safety culture and upholding Trust vision and values will be a key role for the successful candidates.
This post is open to both NMC registered Nurses and HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioners who are looking to take on this exciting opportunity to manage a dynamic team working within our emergency Theatre Department. This Theatre department provides a 24 hour service for multiple specilaities in the emergency setting, including the treatment of a diverse range of patients in the dedicated poly trauma Theatres. As part of the Major Trauma Centre Collaborative patients are transfered directly from the scene of an accident or injury or from Trauma Units and A& E departments across the region to be treated by our highly experienced and specialised teams.
Main duties of the job
Provide speciality knowledge and expertise to the multidisciplinary team and relevant others to ensure quality patient care.
Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
Ensure patient records and theatre documentation is maintained and that documentation reflects care provided Involve where possible multi disciplinary team, patients, carers/relatives in the planning and delivery of services within the theatre area
Work collaboratively with other professionals and departments to ensure patient needs are met
Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, /carers/relatives multidisciplinary team
MANAGERIAL/LEADERSHIPManage the surgical speciality within theatres and provide line management for theatre team.
Ensure the theatre team address ongoing & changing health care needs
Maximise best use of clinical resources, monitor and evaluate patient flow, the pen-operative process & take responsibility for initiating improvements
Ensure the effective and efficient use of physical and financial resources, ensuring new practices/developments within theatres are ethically approved and costed in order to fulfil the responsibility of budget holder
Monitor and evaluate health, safety and security of self and others and implement best practice within the speciality area
Act on concerns reported by team members or service users
Assist the Clinical Manager in implementing changes in practice/service delivery
