Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic SLT with excellent clinical, supervisory and organisational skills to join the acute SLT teams based on the LUHFT sites at the Royal, Broadgreen and Aintree Hospitals.

We are looking for someone to work with a broad range of complex general medical conditions alongside taking the lead on dysphagia training for our junior staff across the trust. There is a vision that this role will also progress into leading on other training initiatives within the trust.

The post holder will be part of teams managing complex communication and dysphagia caseloads. Experience in Videofluoroscopy and/or FEES is required.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

This role will also provide opportunities to develop both clinical and leadership skills within the SLT team and the wider organisation. You will work closely with the band 8 clinical leads and other band 7 SLTs in the service with regular opportunities for senior support and peer supervision.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will be working as a member of a flexible and supportive team within the acute settings at the Royal, Broadgreen and Aintree hospital sites. The role will involve working with a broad range of complex general medical conditions and developing a lead role in dysphagia training. You will be supported by expert practitioner speech and language therapists working with advanced dysphagia, critical care, head and neck, voice and asthma and enabled to develop your skills in dysphagia and Inducible Laryngeal Obstruction as well as caseload management and prioritisation. We carry out videofluoroscopy clinics each week andhave a well-established FEES and Laryngeal endoscopy training programme for senior clinicians.

Band 7 employees provide clinical lead roles and are required to supervise junior therapists and assistant staff, as well as deputise for 8a team leads. You will be encouraged to support service development through participation in internal and external projects.
