Job summary
The H&I department at LCL are looking for a Trainee Biomedical Scientist holding an IBMS approved degree, willing to develop sufficient expertise to gain HCPC Registration in the prescribed time (23 months). The successful applicant will be supported through completion and assessment of IBMS training portfolio by a designated training lead and will rotate within the serology and molecular areas of the department.We are an IBMS accredited training laboratory that provides a comprehensive serology and molecular diagnostic service, utilising state of the art equipment for our interesting and varied workload. The successful applicant will be required to develop the skills needed to perform and interpret specialist tests (under supervision), to prepare specialist reagents required for specialist investigations and to report to and liaise with service users.The successful applicant will be required to work shifts and participate in the weekend service after suitable training.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is required to carry out technical duties in the diagnostic laboratory areas under the supervision of qualified Biomedical Scientists whilst gaining the education, training and experience necessary to obtain Registration with the HCPC.The post holder will be expected to utilise all training and experience to fulfil to requirements of the IBMS training portfolio.
