Job summary

Band 7A Clinical Nurse Specialist - BBV Team

The Blood Borne Virus (BBV) Team at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital is situated within the Axess Sexual Health Service and supports both HIV and Hepatitis patients and works closely with the Liverpool community HIV team to ensure continuity of care for patients.

We are looking for an experienced clinical nurse specialist to join the Blood Borne Virus Nursing Team looking after patients with hepatitis and HIV/AIDs.The successful applicant will be expected to work across primary and secondary care sites and be able to work autonomously supporting the Clinical Team Leader.Applicants should have good interpersonal and communication skills, having an ability to communicate sensitive information to patients and relatives where there may be barriers to communication or reassurance is required. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate both management and leadership skills.

Main duties of the job

To support the Clinical Team Leader and the team in the absence of the Clinical Team Leader.

To provide full clinical nurse specialist care to both hepatitis and HIV patients, managing a caseload of patients and ensuring databases are up-to-date with accurate information on patient management to ensure continuity of care for all patients supported by the blood borne virus team.

  • Registered general Nurse
  • ENB 998 or equivalent
  • Degree or equivalent (relevant discipline)
  • Completion of short courses in specialist field

Desirable

  • ENB 276, ENB 934, 280 Counselling Course, Nurse prescribing Course

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in HIV/Hepatitis medicine or GUM, or Infectious Diseases or drug services
  • Experience of advising and liaising with multi-professional teams at all levels
  • Experience of working in partnership with community services
  • Experience of working with diverse cultural/social groups

Desirable

  • Evidence of experience in Infectious Diseases/ Liver services / Drug services
  • Has experience in teaching both one to one and on a formal basis
  • Evidence of presentation at local or national conferences
