Job summary

The Liverpool University NHS Foundation Trust was created in 2019, after successful merger of the Royal and Aintree Hospitals, with a strategy to integrate the Radiology services provided across both sites. Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint Specialty Doctor in Nuclear Medicine based largely at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. The post is to complement the departmental structure of 4 consultants providing comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine services across Royal Liverpool University Hospital and University Hospital Aintree.

The post will be full time 10PAs.

The department offers a wide breadth of both diagnostic and therapeutic services and has 3 gamma cameras, PET/CT scanner and Bone Mineral Densitometry.

Main duties of the job

-To provide a first class clinical service in diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine.

-To supervise junior medical staff in Nuclear Medicine.

-To provide PET/CT expertise for supervision of administration, advice for imaging and reporting.

-To report radionuclide imaging studies, in vivo and in vitro and BMD studies.

-To take part in the regular outpatient clinics assessing, treating, and reviewing patients with Thyroid Cancer, Thyrotoxicosis and Neuroendocrine Tumours.

-To prepare for and lead on discussions in appropriate MDTMs.

-To give advice to hospital staff in LUHFT and other hospitals in the region and to answer GP queries either by telephone or by letter.

  • Medical Degree (MBBS, MChB or equivalent)
  • Full GMC registration
  • Eligible to work in the UK at commencement
  • Is Fit to Practice

Desirable

  • CCT (or eligible within 6 months)

Experience

  • At least 5 years experience in Nuclear Medicine
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working
  • Evidence of working independently

Desirable

  • Experience in a large UK Department
