Job summary
An exciting secondment /fixed term opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and well-motivated Speech and Language Therapist to provide advanced speech and language therapy input to the inpatient service at Aintree hospital. You will be part of an innovative team currently providing inpatient and outpatient services across several specialist areas and will work alongside the current clinical lead and respiratory SLTs to provide ongoing input.
The successful candidate will be an expert practitioner in the management of acute adult inpatients. You will be contributing to the clinical assessment of a broad clinical speciality and manage a complex caseload, promoting research activity and providing clinical supervision to the respiratory SLT team. You will also be expected to have advanced skills in at least one instrumental assessment ie Videofluoroscopy and FEES.
Main duties of the job

To manage a caseload of adult patients admitted to the acute general medical wards, presenting with a wide range of acquired communication and swallowing impairments, carrying out highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment in order to maximise communication and swallowing difficulties.

The primary care of responsibility will be within the acute medical teams, where the majority of patients are referred for support with dysphagia.

To supervise and support development of less experienced members of the team.

To be able to contribute to the current IP VFS/ FEES service as required.

To work within professional standards and local protocols, procedures and guidelines.
