Job summary

Waterloo Dialysis Unit are looking for an experienced band 3 health care assistant to join our team. We are a Nurse Led Haemodialysis Out patients dept. affiliated to Nephrology services Liverpool University Hospital

Unit is open 6 days per week Monday-Saturday Closed Sundays.

Unit opening Times

3 Shifts - M/W/F 07:00 - 00:00 Early /Late /Twilight

2 Shifts T/T/S 07:00 - 19:00 - Early /Late

The successful applicant should be highly motivated and qualified for position . Successful candidate requires excellent communication, interpersonal skills and sound understanding of Team dynamics and ability to use initiative . They should possess a keen desire to provide a high standard of care at all times

Main duties of the job

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the post holder will assist the Department team in providing the highest possible standard of care for patients and their families/carer.

The post holder will undertake a range of tasks and duties as delegated by a registered nurse.

Main duties are to provide a high standard of personal care to all patients, recording of observation under supervision, Preparedness for initiation/discontinuation Dialysis Therapy, Hygiene disinfection procedures, Undertake Training competencies specific to Role, assisting with minor procedures

Job responsibilities

Participates in all aspects of patient care with particular attention during dialysis session

They will be responsible for monitoring, recording of a patients vital signs pre mid post dialysis -temperature pulse, respiration , blood pressure, blood glucose levels including pre/post intra-dialytic weight gains

Preparation and serving of patients light refreshments

ensuring privacy and dignity is maintain

Assist patients to maintain mobility by use of appliances.

Assist in the prevention of pressure sore development as directed by the Registered nurse in conjunction with the patients plan of care

Carry out any movement and handling within the safe practice guidelines from your mandatory training and in relation to the Inanimate loads / patients manual handling plan

Undertaking designated Link Roles ie Monthly Water Treatment Sampling /Monitoring

Removal of dialysis needles post dialysis

The successful candidate will undertake in house training, orientation program - A schedule of expectations will be provided to candidate until they are fully competent within sphere of role.
