Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team of 11 renal dietitians at LUHFT which is based at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. Our recent merger with Aintree University Hospital, has expanded our geographical area to provide renal dietetic support to the Merseyside region and surrounding areas of Southport, Warrington, Runcorn and St Helens.

We have a large prevalent haemodialysis population, with approximately 120 in centre HD stations providing care for around 720 patients per week. Our home therapies cohort has roughly 120 patients, and as a Trust we perform over 100renal transplants per year.

The Renal & Transplant service, based at the Royal Liverpool site is now the tertiary Regional Renal Unit with equitable access to expert renal care and transplant for Cheshire and Mersey. The service consists of 56 inpatient beds at the Royal site, 8 of which are high dependency and 14 are allocated to the Transplant service. We also provide an inpatient in reach service to Aintree University Hospital.

Other areas of specialty with the renal service are our Advanced Kidney Care Clinic and Conservative Management Clinic which are MDT based.

Training post may be considered if appropriate under annex 21 conditions.

Main duties of the job

Your primary role will be to provide the dietetic management to renal service users in the Merseyside region and surrounding areas of Southport, Warrington, Runcorn and St Helens. This will include haemodialysis units where you will have a close working relationship with the lead consultant and MDT; home therapies, conservative management and nephrology clinics.

The post holder will be fully supported by the existing B7 dietitians, dietetic team lead and therapy management. You will provide support and supervision to B5, B6 and B4 dietetic assistant staff. You will also be involved in the supervision of students, linking in with universities to provide the best possible learning experience.
