Band 8a Senior Project Manager - Practice Based Education Project

10 Month Secondment

Open to Allied Health Professionals and Nurses

An exciting opportunity has arisen within LUHFT, for the right candidate to undertake a 10 month secondment to support a project to review current practice based learning and education roles inform how we can improve this across the AHP, Nursing, Clinical Psychology and Health Care Scientist professions. This post requires someone with a passion for education and project management experience, who would like the opportunity to build key relationships whilst working on a system wide project.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for:

  • Working with organisational teams to clarify current roles and models, identify and share best practice and develop a framework for practice-based education.
  • Working with the local & HEI key stakeholders, develop a key data set that enables a system wide perspective of practice educator capacity to be known and reported; agree governance and associated reporting mechanisms.
  • Delivery of key projects to agreed timescales, producing project plans, update reports, recommendations and final reports.

You will be expected to work independently and autonomously, seeking the advice of the Director of AHPs, Deputy Director of AHPs and the Head of Multi-professional Education.

Key responsibilities1. Provide programme and project management expertise and advice within the organisation.2. Have overall responsibility for the successful delivery of a the project, for the full life cycle from initiation to closure.3. Ensure that all programme and projects are managed in accordance withPRINCE2, MSP and management standards.4. Ensure that all programmes and projects are supported by a robustgovernance structure .5. Monitor the progress of the programmes and project against their original business case and project initiation document, ensuring where necessary the programme/projects are able to adapt to changing requirements .6. Analyse and evaluate the many diverse and conflicting issues associated with the completion of programmes and decide how resources are to be used. Be responsible for developing and tracking the progress of programme/project plans, including resource planning.7. To identify and manage risks and issues associated with the programme,including the development and implementation of contingency plans. Where necessary, progress the escalation of project risks and issues which have been identified.8. Working closely with the business change function to ensure that appropriate business re-engineering activities take place, in order to support the successful delivery of the key outputs of the programmes and projects.9. Ensure that appropriate plans, documentation and procedures are in place when transitioning to business as usual.10. Work to ensure that programmes and projects meet the strategic plans of the organisation.11. Provide effective communications to update stakeholders onprogramme/project progress.12. To work in closely with other NHS agencies andhealthcare providers to develop opportunities to share best practice acrossthe health community, actively supporting related initiatives.13. Deputise for others where appropriate14. Make presentations to groups of staff on topics associated withprogrammes/projects.15. The postholder will be required to contribute to the development andimplementation of Key Performance Indicators and Critical Success Factors16. The postholder will be required to monitor and manage delivery against these targets and produce regular management and update reports detailing performance levels and provide supporting information to explainimprovements or degradation in service and action taken to resolve situations and to achieve progress.17. The post holder will work to achieve agreed Directorate objectives and is given freedom to do this in their own way working within broad professional policies.18. Programme and project plans will be shared and agreed with other relevant staff as appropriate.19. Utilise available tools to ensure that deliverables from a project can bemeasured e.g. development of systems, surveys and audits to ensure futurestate changes are realised.20. Undertake Post Implementation Reviews and Lessons Learned activities on completion of programmes/projects ensuring these are acted on to inform all future work of the teams, utilising appropriate programme/project management methodology.21. Dedicate the concentration required to collate, analyse, check and report on complex information, while coping with ongoing project issues.22. Provide full support for internal and external audits of their project(s) and act on recommendations as appropriate.23. The post holder will take account of national and local strategies, policies and guidance and develop plans, through collaborative working, that will lead to the successful delivery of programmes and projects24. To contribute to the production of Strategy documents which will deliver the requirements of the national, regional and local drivers.25. The post holder will be involved in and in some cases will lead on thedevelopment of policies and procedures to support the new capabilitydelivered as an outcome of programmes or projects.26.
