An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to develop their skills and knowledge by joining the expanding nursing team in the Interventional Radiology Department.
This dynamic department provides a wide range of ultrasound, x-ray and CT guided diagnostic and interventional treatments. The unique and varied nature of the specialty means that there is always something new and interesting to learn. Due to the diversity of patients who attend for treatment, the radiology nurse has the ability to care for a wide range of patients, from emergencies, medical, surgical, vascular, oncology, renal and urological specialties. The radiology nurses are vital team members, fulfilling the scrub, circulating and recovery nurse roles, as well as organising the patients' pre and post-procedure care. This role also includes working in CT and ultrasound to cover for interventional procedures.
The Radiology Department comprises of a small team of nurses who work alongside the larger multi-disciplinary team including Radiographers, Radiologists, Radiology Assistants, Health Care Support Workers and Administration Staff.
This position would allow for role expansion in areas such as ILS, safe sedation of patients, The unit is committed to the training and development of staff so further development in this role would be encouraged.
Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care.
Work as a member of the multidisciplinary team and undertake delegated tasks from the unit manager/nurse in charge.
The post holder will take part in the 24/7 On Call rota covering emergency out of hours. You will be supported by a multi-disciplinary throughout your on-calls.
The post holder will always work within the NMCs Code of Professional Conduct.
Post holder must possess excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills and should be prepared to work in a flexible working environment.
