Job summary
The post is based at Liverpool Univesity Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be primarily based at our Level 1 Major Trauma Centre at Aintree University Hospital.
The Major Trauma Fellow takes part in a 1 in 21 general on-call attracting a weekend allowance of 5%; a night premium with allowance for leave; and an availability uplift of 8%.
The weekend trauma lists facilitate the successful candidate to acquire training and non technical list running skills. These lists are remunerated as extra payments.
Main duties of the job
The Orthopaedic Directorate has a proven track record in research with high level of national and international conference papers/presentations as well as published papers in peer reviewed journals. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to ongoing research projects within their dedicated research sessions.

Job responsibilities
The salary for this post will be that of a SpR and according to previous reckonable equivalent service. Applicants should be at a Specialist Registrar Grade or equivalent and ideally near to completing their Higher Specialist Training.
There will be exposure to all aspects of Major Trauma seen in a regional MTC with specific emphasis on long bone, hip, pelvic and chest injuries.
The successful candidate will be attached primarily to the Major Trauma T&O Consultants but with opportunities to see all aspects of modern specialist trauma care.
Candidates are expected to have prior experience in intramedullary nailing, periarticular fractures and application of external fixation. The successful candidate will be required to be registered with the General Medial Council and hold a License to Practice.
Possession of FRCS Orth or equivalent qualifications is essential. All doctors are responsible to maintain a portfolio of their career over the last five years in order to satisfy GMC revalidation criteria.
If successful, you will be required to bring along your supporting information portfolio inculding recent appraisals documents when joining the Trust.
