Job summary
We are seeking a confident and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist with evidence of operational and clinical leadership skills to join the Critical Care team at Aintree Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the Speech and Language Therapy service to Critical Care and work as an integral member of a growing multi-disciplinary rehab team.
The successful candidate will have experience of managing complex and challenging patients including those with tracheostomies, have advanced communication skills and a flexible approach.
Working closely with a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team you will support critical care patients from the acute rehabilitation phase through to discharge from the unit.
The successful candidate will ideally be competent in the areas of tracheostomy management, FEES and Videofluoroscopy. However, training will be provided if necessary. You will be supported by and work closely with the Advanced Clinical Practitioner SLTs in Critical Care

- To manage a caseload of adult patients presenting with a wide range of acquired
- communication and swallowing impairments, carrying out highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment
- Work within the Critical Care Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide rehabilitation programmes including contributing to tracheostomy weaning plans
- To be able to contribute to the current inpatient videofluoroscopy and/or FEES service as required
- To supervise and support development of less experienced members of the tea
- To lead on SLT service development and clinical governance activities within critical car
