Purpose of volunteering role:

To support staff to offer gym sessions to adult inpatients atDorothy Pattison's Mental Health Hospital

This is a voluntary role which is unpaid.

Main duties of the job

Examples of how you can help us:

  • We are looking for volunteers with a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification that is recognised by CIMPSA (please ensure to put details of this in your application)

  • This role will be supporting patients in using the gym equipment.

  • Shadowing and training will be provided with regards to risks, and alarms will be provided.

  • Volunteers could do one session or multiple sessions per week depending on their availability.

  • Must be able to travel to Dorothy Pattison's Hospital (travel expenses will be reimbursed)

We are looking for volunteers who have these qualities:

  • Hold a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification that is recognised by CIMPSA.
  • Reliability: able to support for a regular volunteer schedule
  • Live in the Black Country area, within a reasonable travel distance to site.
  • Volunteers must be over 18
  • Friendly and welcoming good communication skills, able to speak with clients and staff and build rapport.

  • Able to follow confidentiality policy and professional boundaries to keep themselves and patients safe.
  • Enthusiasm and desire to help improve experiences of patients and improve wellbeing.

  • Computer skills for e-learning training
