Our Clinical Health Psychology Service comprises a dynamic team of psychologists, psychotherapists, and counsellors who assist individuals in adapting to and developing creative solutions for living with physical health problems. Operating across Dudley, Wolverhampton, and Sandwell and West Birmingham, we offer a range of services tailored to meet diverse patient needs.

Stroke & Community Neuro Rehabilitation Team (CNRT) - Band 8a Applied Psychologist:
Stroke Inpatient (Sandwell): 0.1 (substantive) + 0.5 (Fixed Term)
ICARES (community rehabilitation) Team (Sandwell Only): 0.5
Stroke and Neuro (Dudley): 0.3

In these positions, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across both inpatient and/or community settings, collaborating with experienced professionals. You will be supported by Principal Clinical Psychologists and Consultant Clinical Psychologist. Your key responsibilities will include conducting psychological assessments and interventions for patients affected by stroke or other physical health conditions. Additionally, you will contribute to delivering comprehensive care through teamwork and play an active role in service development and innovation initiatives.
Paediatric Diabetes - 0.27 WTE (10.25 hours): Band 8a Applied Psychologist (Wolverhampton)
Location: New Cross Hospital/ Other sites in Wolverhampton
We are seeking a psychologist with a special interest in paediatric diabetes to join our team. The primary aim of this role is to support individuals in building resilience, enhancing coping strategies, and managing psychological symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and anger. You will help patients engage in meaningful activities and roles, ultimately improving their overall quality of life.

General Medicine - Band 8a: Applied Psychologist (Dudley & Wolverhampton)
WTE Substantive: 0.2 (Renal, Dudley); 0.4 (Wolverhampton)
WTE Fixed Term: 0.5 (Dudley)
The General Medicine service provides psychological support to clients and multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) across various physical health specialties, including diabetes, respiratory, cardiology, gastroenterology, and renal services. Psychological input is highly valued, with strong collaborative links established within each specialty. This role offers opportunities to conduct complex assessments and formulations, deliver one-to-one psychological therapy, and engage in joint working with other healthcare professionals. Additionally, you will contribute to supervision, training, and consultancy. There will also be scope to support the Principal Psychologist in the ongoing development and enhancement of the service.
General Medicine - 0.4 WTE Band 6: Counsellor (Dudley & Wolverhampton)
We are seeking a highly motivated, dedicated, and innovative qualified counsellor to join our team in Dudley and Wolverhampton. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the General Medicine service, which provides psychological support to clients and multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) across a range of physical health specialties, including diabetes, respiratory, cardiology, gastroenterology, and renal services.
The successful candidate will deliver psychological care and support to patients through both individual and group interventions. You will play a key role in integrating psychological perspectives into the service, ensuring a holistic and patient-centred approach to care. As an integral member of the MDT, you will provide specialised clinical support to individuals referred to the service and collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals.

Cancer, Band 8a: Applied Psychologist (Dudley/ Wolverhampton)
WTE Substantive: 0.7 (Wolverhampton)
WTE Fixed Term: 1.2 (Dudley, until September 2025)
The post holder will benefit from professional leadership and peer support within the wider service while playing a key role in supporting the Principal Counselling Psychologists in the delivery of the services. In this setting, you will work closely with medical, nursing, and allied health professional (AHP) colleagues within Cancer Services to deliver a highly integrated and holistic service. The post holder will operate at Level 4 of the 4 level model for psycho oncology, providing direct clinical input at level 4 and supporting staff working at levels 1-3 via training and supervision groups.
Key aspects of the role include conducting complex assessments and formulations, providing psychological therapy for patients and their loved ones, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. The cancer care multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) are highly psychologically skilled and greatly value the input of the palliative care psychology team. You will contribute through regular MDT participation, clinical supervision, consultancy, and staff training. Additionally, there will be ample opportunities to support the Principal Psychologist and collaborate with other psychological therapists in the ongoing development and enhancement of the service.
Pain - 0.8 WTE Fixed Term (Until October): Band 8a: Applied Psychologist (Wolverhampton)
The Wolverhampton Pain Management Service is a well-established interdisciplinary team comprising psychologists, pain consultants, clinical nurse specialists and physiotherapists. Psychologists are fully integrated and highly valued members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), and the post-holder will join a supportive and experienced group of professionals.
In this role, you will conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to evaluate patient's psychological needs and determine appropriate treatment pathways within and beyond the service as part of MDT pain clinics. You will deliver interventions, including individual therapy, joint working with MDT colleagues, and facilitating an MDT Pain Management Programme. Additionally, you will provide consultation and advice on psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and support the Principal Psychologist in the ongoing development and enhancement of the service.

Qualifications and Experience:
We welcome applications from both experienced clinicians and newly qualified (or soon-to-be qualified and HCPC registered) Practitioner Psychologists. Experience in physical health settings is desirable; however, we are keen to hear from applicants with transferable skills from other specialties. Strong communication skills, a collaborative working style, and creative thinking are essential.
