Job summary

To ensureprovision of an effective Material Management stock and non-stock management and replenishment service for dedicated areas of the trust. Ensuring deliveries are received and appropriately stored away in the ward and department storerooms, maintaining stock levels by timely and regular ordering.

Main duties of the job

To implement and maintain a materials management service across Trust departments and wards, undertaking regular and timely ordering on behalf of the customer, in line with agreed procedures.

To be responsible for ensuring that customer's requirements are met in the most cost effective way possible ensuring continuity of supplies at all times.

Carryout regular reviews with appropriate ward/department leads, using system information as appropriate to illustrate spending patterns, identify and agree all products and stock levels with the customer, monitor usage and activity patterns and place timely and accurate orders to maintain agreed stock and material levels.

Regular customer contact to ensure stock levels and the range of products held are regularly reviewed, reflect activity and are updated in agreement with the customer.

Assist in value for money studies to contribute to savings set targets and regularly reports spend/saving activity.

Receive, check and put away all deliveries. Ensuring that items are rotated

About us

The materials management team are a remote function of the Trust stores which sits under Facilities catering for inpatient area stock for housekeeping and catering , working collaboratively with procurement, finance, stores and end users. Each staff member recognizing the importance of our service in relation to patient needs.

  • Good communication skills, oral and written
  • Computer literate with the ability to use Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
  • An ability to follow procedures & manuals
  • Full valid and clean UK driving license

  • ECDL or Equivalent
  • Experience in Materials Management services, working knowledge of NHS Supply Chain and Trusts ordering systems.
  • Experience of handling confidential and sensitive information at a site level.
  • Understanding how to deliver Material Management services with a 'live' hospital environment being mindful of patient , staff and visitor safety.
