Job summary
We wish to recruit a part time Positive Behaviour Support, Assistant Practitioner to be part of our Walsall Behaviour Support Team. We are a specialist community team and support adults with learning disabilities and complex and challenging needs. You will undertake a range of tasks, hold your own caseload, support qualified members of the team, undertake specialist clinical assessments and implement specialist interventions. The service operates within the principles of Positive Behaviour Support and works closely with the psychology team and the wider community MDT.
Due to the complexity of the client population, you will need to have experience of working with people with learning disabilities and complex and challenging needs.
As the service works mainly in the community you will be required to have a valid driving license and access to a car.

Main duties of the job
You will complete specialist assessments with people with learning disabilities and complex and challenging needs. From the assessment information you will develop robust and ethical interventions with in the framework of Positive Behaviour Support.
You will provide support to qualified members of the team and support the development of bespoke resources for service users
You will be supported with regular supervision to carry and manage a caseload,

You will receive regular clinical and management supervision from an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist which will enable you to work autonomously and hold an allocated case load. We work closely with our Psychology team and wider MDT. There will be an opportunity for you to undertake training.

- To liaise with others / key people which may include families, paid carers , health professionals, social care, third sector workers and others who provide support or who are significantly involved with the person. In some situations, may communicate factual and sensitive information to clients/parents/carers where there will often be significant barriers to understanding.
- To participate in the production of formal reports and feedback outcomes to a range of stakeholders whilst maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality.
- To develop and provide client related materials.
- To work within legal parameters, having a working knowledge of relevant legislation.
- To actively participate in regular clinical and management supervision, PDR and comply with all Mandatory and Statutory training requirements.
- To contribute to the clinical governance infrastructure, assisting to ensure the delivery of high quality services through a process of service improvement initiatives, learning from adverse events and periodic review of individual/team approaches.
