Positive Behaviour Support Qualified Nurse Practitioner, Walsall Behaviour Support Team , Band 5 RNLD / Development Post to Band 6
Hours of work are usually Monday - Friday, 9am- 5pm (Some flexibility maybe required to meet the needs of the service)
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and approachable qualified Learning Disability nurse to work within the Behaviour Support Team.
The Behaviour Support Team work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality and specialist services to individuals with Learning Disabilities and complex challenging needs.
Due to the nature of the role and service requirements, you will have previous experience of working with people with a Learning Disability who present with complex and challenging needs.
This post is a an excellent opportunity for a band 5 to develop to a Band 6,or for a current band 6 to join our established and proactive team.
Main duties of the job
This role involves completion of a range of tasks (but not limited to) specialist behavioural assessments, analysis of findings, formulation and the development and implementation of individualized ethical interventions following the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) ethos and pathway.
You will be expected to develop positive relationships with individuals referred to the service, their families, colleagues, professionals and others who may be involved in supporting the person.
You will be involved in the delivery of training, the assessment and supervision of student nurses and supporting other learners. There will be opportunities to actively contribute to service developments, future planning and improvement within the Learning Disability services.
You will work in a range of settings, which can include people's homes, specialist schools, provider and occasional inpatient services. You will be required to have a valid driving license and access to and use of a car.
You will be offered the opportunity to complete specialist PBS training.

You will receive regular clinical and management supervision from an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist which will enable you to work autonomously and hold an allocated case load. There will be an opportunity for you to undertake specialist Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) training. you will be supported to develop into the band 6 role with specialist competencies.

- Completion of specialist assessments; formulation; implementation and evaluation of measurable interventions, supported by robust risk assessments.
- To maintain clear and contemporaneous records of all case work, using approved electronic and non-electronic recording systems.
- Engage with and feedback outcomes to a range of stakeholders whilst maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality.
- To deliver training.
- To work within legal parameters, having a working knowledge of relevant legislation.
- To work within the guidance of the Trust/local Lone Working policy, using agreed report & confirm systems.
- To actively participate in regular clinical and management supervision with line manager and Therapists.
- To actively participate and complete revalidation as required by the NMC
- Actively participate in own appraisal and ensure objectives and work plans are met.
- To ensure contractual activity and trust targets are completed within set time parameters.
- To comply with all Mandatory and Statutory training requirements.
- Assessment and supervision of student nurses and other learners.
- To participate in audit and service evaluation programmes.
- To contribute to the clinical governance infrastructure, assisting to ensure the delivery of high quality services.
