Job summary
An exciting opportunity has emerged for a newly qualified or experienced Occupational Therapist to work in the inpatient AHP service at Hallam Street Hospital.
The inpatient AHP service is a multi-disciplinary service delivering a variety of group and one-to-one interventions to service-users with acute mental health needs.
This post is based in the Resource Centre at Hallam Street. You will part of an established AHP team and will not be part of numbers on the wards.

Main duties of the job
Main Duties/Responsibilities
- To manage a clinical caseload of adults with mental health needs requiring occupational assessment and treatment interventions within inpatient settings.
- To undertake occupational therapy assessments/treatment interventions with designated service users, utilising investigative and analytical skills to formulate individualised treatment plans.
- To plan and implement occupational therapy interventions (individual and group) using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
- To work collaboratively with service users and their families/carers to identify occupational therapy goals as part of the overall recovery care plan.
- To actively engage and motivate service users in the occupations of self-care, productivity and leisure.
- To work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members providing occupational therapy specific contributions to the care and treatment process of patients.
- To apply an experiential understanding of the effects of functional, cognitive and physical impairment related to mental health needs in the therapeutic process of treatment planning and intervention.
- To be responsible for the planning and delivery of occupational therapy interventions in a variety of environments, according to service user need.
- To be responsible for the safe fitting and use of Activities of Daily Living (ADL) equipment provided to service users by oneself and occupational therapy support staff within the Team.

An amazing opportunity has arisen to join the Allied Health Professional team in the Adult Urgent Care Mental Health Services within the Black Country Healthcare organisation. The successful applicant will work in a fast paced hospital environment, whilst developing leadership and clinical and quality skills working as part of a multi-disciplinary team on the Adult inpatients wards Abbey, Charlemont & Friar ward.
We are looking for somebody who is committed and motivated to delivering the best care to our patients. The applicant must have experience of working with the Adults client base and a genuine interest in Adults mental health The successful candidate has an opportunity to provide Occupational Therapy process from the beginning of the patient's recovery whilst in hospital and will work alongside the multi-disciplinary clinical leadership team to deliver psychiatric care.
